online lactation consultation

Since the COVID pandemic, videoconferencing has become essential, and I particularly appreciate being able to conduct online lactation consultations and exchange with mothers from all over France, Corsica, and the entire world through telehealth!

I have had mothers from Colombia, England, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Reunion Island, Martinique, and more recently, Tanzania!

Why consult a lactation consultant?

A lactation consultant guides and supports you through all stages of your breastfeeding journey.

This can include Breastfeeding Preparation Sessions for pregnant women. Or Information and Support sessions in case of difficult or painful breastfeeding (cracks, nipple pain, engorgement, milk coming in, prevention of mastitis and blocked ducts, restless baby at the breast, OMER, hyperlactation, nipple shields), or during new stages of your breastfeeding: expressing milk, flange sizing, exclusive pumping, returning to work, starting solids, breast refusal, nursing strike, baby crying, GERD, bottle refusal....

Why choose an Online breastfeeding support Consultation with an IBCLC lactation consultant and NDC practitioner?

Perhaps there is no IBCLC lactation consultant in your region, or perhaps you are in Lyon but prefer not to travel. Many mothers are exhausted by broken nights and appreciate the comfort of staying in their sweatpants in their living room for the consultation! And when there is snow, or when you are sick, it’s much simpler.

An IBCLC is considered the gold stand in breastfeeding support, cumulating professional training and clinical experience

In addition to my IBCLC credential, I also have a NDC certification (Neuroprotective developmental care) with Dr Pam Douglas (also called Possums approach) around breastfeeding pain, crying and fussy baby, baby sleep and the mother's wellbeing and mental health.

How does an IBCLC breastfeeding video consultation work?

  • You book the slot that suits you and pay online by credit card.

  • I send a preparation email to collect information on your medical and birth history, and your breastfeeding management.

  • You also receive a confirmation email with the Zoom connection link.

  • We discuss your concerns: frequency of feedings, rhythms, criteria for an effective feeding, or even pumping and flange size. Regarding sleep you can book specific consultations.

  • If needed, I provide explanations on positioning at the breast by showing you with a doll and a knitted breast and by guiding you orally.

During my in-person sessions, I intervene as little as possible regarding positioning and latching: I try to avoid touching mothers and babies so that you can be autonomous afterward.

telehealth breastfeeding

  • I proceed, if possible, with the observation of a feeding (and/or pumping session). If necessary, you can send me a video/photos via WhatsApp beforehand, or afterward if I was unable to observe the baby nursing.

  • Together we establish an action plan: I send you the summary report by email. A summary report is written only if the consultation lasts more than an hour.

  • After our appointment, by joining me through your member access on the site, you will have access to articles and videos . I will conduct a one-week follow-up for 1-hour sessions.

How long does an online breastfeeding consultation last?

I offer:

  • A short format: 30-min session (e.g., follow-up, returning to work, bottle refusal, nursing strike, weaning, starting solids).

  • A long format: 1 hour for pain issues, slow weight gain, or if there are multiple concerns.

What do mothers say?

"A very gentle and welcoming session, full of kindness that puts you at ease and feels good, I would recommend without any hesitation.
"Much empathy and humanity during the appointments, which is very important in my opinion since breastfeeding touches on such sensitive issues (intimacy, bond with the baby, baby's health...). I also appreciate the fact that there is no dogmatism; the well-being of the mother and baby are considered above all else, without any injunction to breastfeed exclusively at all costs. This is very guilt-relieving. The various appointments I had encouraged me to listen to myself and to continue my breastfeeding journey over time, without pressure. They also allowed me to have more confidence in myself, my body, and my baby. I find it very reassuring for a breastfeeding mother to have this support in case of a question or a concern." Marianne
